Wark Media Statement 0 comments

CD 5 Libertarian candidate Wark has made the media rounds, most recently interviewed for an upcoming piece in Newsday! She was also quoted in a LP of Queens County press release sent countywide to Queens media on October 5 (UPDATE---The Newsday piece was published here). Her entire statement:

"Electing liberty candidates that respect our Constitutional Republic and keep their oaths to uphold the Constitution are the only hope for real change. Corruption in DC and loss of liberties have reached epic proportions. We must repeal unconstitutional laws and guard against any future abuses and power grabs."

"We must downsize DC and put our servant government back in the box. If we are to succeed in doing so, we must also fight deficit spending, balance the budget, cap the debt, end the countless, needless, wars, close our bases around the world, and bring all the troops home."

"Additionally, we must audit the Fed., create sound money, and unbridle the market from strangling regulations -allowing for a truly free market and more favorable environment for businesses. These crucial steps will help accelerate economic recovery and stimulate genuine growth and prosperity!"

Wark on the Abuses of Child Welfare 0 comments

CD 5 candidate Autumn Wark has been a long time foe of the authoritarian tyranny of Child Protective Services, and a strong advocate for family preservation. From a 2006 LPNY news release:

Early 2006 has turned out to be an equivalent dark
night of the soul for ACS. New Yorkers have been
transfixed by the torture and beating of 7 year-old
Nixzmary Brown since the child was found dead in her
Brooklyn apartment on January 11...

Libertarians point out
that the total number of child homicide cases per year
remains steady, despite the presence of NYC's massive
as well as intrusive child welfare apparatus, and so
suggest scrapping the monster instead of feeding it.

Other Libertarians among us feel this solution is
ignored because the ACS-foster care system is a
lucrative cash cow for the social service industry.
"Nixzmary is not an instance of the system failing,
but rather an example of 'Child Protective Services'
operating exactly as it was designed," says
Autumn
Wark
, a Queens jewelry entrepreneur who has been
embroiled in a family court battle with ACS over her
child for years. Wark deplores the administrative
court's frequent practice (as in her case) of
pressuring families to 'consent' to sign a Adjournment
in Contemplation of Dismissal (ACOD). Under the terms
of an ACOD a judge typically obligates them to accept
'services,' before either guilt or ACS's jurisdiction
to intervene has been established.

"If someone effectively points a gun to your head and
says 'sign this, or else we take your kids,' have you
consented of your own free will, or have you been
compelled under duress?" asks Wark. She feels the
system deliberately emphasizes making money off
households by forcing social service intervention in
borderline or non-safety cases (disproportionately
involving poor families of color), at the expense of
concentrating on high-risk criminal abuse cases. "Each
case opened is worth $40,000 or more, as in more state
money to ACS and its hangers-on," Wark says. She notes
that child protective procedures frequently bypass
normal civil liberties protections, and proceed from a
presumption of guilt. Wark calls for much more due
process for accused families, prior to unilateral
administrative actions that lead to seizures of kids
by the 'child Nazis.'

Personal Note From Autumn: It's Time to TAKE ACTION! 0 comments

Hello! My name is Catherine "Autumn" Wark. I am on the ballot as a Candidate for the House of Representatives in the New NY 5th Congressional District on the Libertarian Line! The District is currently represented in the House of Representatives by Gregory Meeks (D).

I was approached by the Libertarian Party of Queens to run for Congress due to my commitment to family and community preservation as well as promoting the Libertarian platform of limited government, sound money, free markets, individual rights, and no nation building or policing the world.

Our government has strayed far from the principles of our Founders. Day by day we are becoming less free. All three branches of government have over-stepped their constitutional limitations. These public servants are violating their oaths of office and continuing to shred what remains of our Constitution. This is why I am a Libertarian and I support and assist the efforts of Downsize DC in putting our SERVANT government back in the box. Please visit downsizedc.org

I am not some great political scholar, intellectual, attorney or privileged progeny of one of the American political dynasties. I am simply an artist and a mother. Although I am an artist I feel my greatest accomplishment, and the one I am most proud of, is being a mother! I truly believe mothering to be one of the most important jobs on earth! It is holistic in the sense that a mother must wear many hats! One must learn to be not just a nurturer but a mediator, diplomat, healer, therapist, family administrator, teacher, mentor, peacemaker, financial planner/advisor and the list goes on. In being a mother one develops valuable skills and attributes which qualifies one, I feel, to be a great public servant!

We have entrusted our precious liberty to career politicians and insiders who ARE, for the most part, ATTORNEYS! (How has that been working out for us so far?) There seems to me to be a HUGE conflict of interest there! Most attorneys make their living defending people that break LAWS! Money is what lawyers strive for to become politicians in order to create laws which insulate them in order to maintain their power. The corruption that takes place in between those stages is only viewed as an unfortunate inconvenience to the constituency they are sworn to protect. That chain must be broken and the only way to do that is take Big Money out of the political arena.

The corruption has become so absolutely ludicrous that not only are we now being forced by Washington to buy health insurance but we are being told what kind of lightbulbs we must purchase too! DC has become so corrupt that I suggest we STOP electing attorneys and start sending mothers and vigilant citizens well read in the Constitution to fix it. Keep putting attorneys in office and expect more of the same. It matters little if they are Republican or Democrat! Money in exchange for votes, wealth transfer through debt and inflation, growing government, and stripping We the People of liberty have been the name of the game in DC for decades! Let's end this gravy train operating at OUR expense and downsize DC together!

The libertarian philosophy is that of our Founding Fathers. My platform is straight up libertarian except regarding abortion. Although I am pro-life I believe abortion is a states issue. Our party platform can be viewed here and I highly recommend doing so; https://www.lp.org/files/LP%20Platform%202012.pdf

I am seeking volunteers for my campaign. All liberty loving people are welcome!

"I would rather be exposed to the inconveniences attending too much liberty than to those attending too small a degree of it." — Thomas Jefferson

"Eternal vigilance is the price of liberty." -- Wendell Phillips

"The greatest tyrannies are always perpetrated in the name of the noblest causes." -- Thomas Paine

"Voting is no substitute for the eternal vigilance that every friend of freedom must demonstrate towards government.  If our freedom is to survive, Americans must become far better informed of the dangers from Washington -- regardless of who wins the Presidency." -- James Bovard

"If we become a people who are willing to give up our money and our freedom in exchange for rhetoric and promises, then nothing can save us." -- Thomas Sowell

"When governments fear the people there is liberty. When the people fear the government there is tyranny." — Thomas Jefferson

"Always vote for principle, though you may vote alone, and you may cherish the sweetest reflection that your vote is never lost." — John Quincy Adams

"Good intentions will always be pleaded for every assumption of authority. It is hardly too strong to say that the Constitution was made to guard the people against the dangers of good intentions. There are men in all ages who mean to govern well, but they mean to govern. They promise to be good masters, but they mean to be masters." — Daniel Webster

"Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety." — Benjamin Franklin

"I believe there are more instances of the abridgment of freedoms of the people by gradual and silent encroachment of those in power than by violent and sudden usurpations." — James Madison

Wark on the Devaluation of Women at LPQC 0 comments

On Sept. 8 Autumn Wark spoke before supporters at the Libertarian Party of Queens County (LPQC) in Whitestone on the theme of "The Institutional Devaluation of Women." Autumn discussed her 10 year background in Libertarian causes, her Vedic Hindu faith, and her struggles fighting government force head on, both as a street vendor or 'jewelry entrepreneur,' and as a mother fighting off ACS abuses. She talked about how women may be undervalued assets to liberty, or could be better used by the movement, or better approached by the LP. Wark expects to be available for media interviews or other appearances as time and financial support allows.

Wark, Other 2012 LP Candidates on the Ballot in New York 0 comments

From an LPNY press release: Albany, NY—The Libertarian Party of New York submitted over 25,000 signatures Tuesday to give New Yorkers an alternative to the failed policies of the major parties. State Chair Mark Axinn commented, “Once again, the Libertarian Party has amassed enough signatures so that voters can choose true freedom-loving candidates this November. Unlike tax-and-spend Democrats and borrow-and-spend Republicans, only the Libertarian Party candidates will actually slow the growth of government.” ...Other Libertarian candidates on the slate in November because of these petitions include Chis Edes for US Senate, Michael McDermott, Congressional District 3 (Long Island), Autumn Wark, Congressional District 5 (Queens), Dan Halloran, Congressional District 6 (Queens) and Mark Glogowski, Assembly District 139 (Rochester).
